UA Geosciences Symposium.

The first GeoDaze program, 1973.

GeoDaze, The University of Arizona Geosciences Symposium, is an entirely student-run conference organized by students in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona. Now in its 53rd year, it is an event that continues to provide graduate and undergraduate students with the opportunity to present their latest research to the community and to receive feedback from professionals in industry, government, and academia. This year, we are proud to present oral and poster presentations from Geosciences graduate and undergraduate students.

We welcome guests from around the world to join us for GeoDaze 2025. This opportunity for students and members of academia to mingle and discuss current research with professionals from outside the university opens the door for new collaborations, research questions, and valuable guidance. Whether you're interested in contributing to new research discussions or just want to learn what’s new in Geosciences right now, we hope you enjoy this innovative research science experience.

As always, an awards session will conclude the formal component of GeoDaze 2025. This event will be hosted at the conclusion of the conference and will be followed by an after-party, where the timeless crowd-pleaser - a slideshow of student and faculty photos celebrating our travels and research over the past year - will be aired. A program will be made available in the near future, so check back soon to learn more about everything this symposium has to offer and specifics on how you can participate.

Best Graduate Talk in memory of Nicéa Wilder

Nicéa Wilder was born in Alfenas, Brazil and raised in the cities of Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro. Nicéa attended the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, where she graduated with a degree in natural history. She then worked as a palynologist for the Brazilian Geological Survey, during which she published several scientific papers on the Paleozoic biostratigraphy and paleoclimate of Brazil. After relocating to Tucson, Nicéa completed her PhD in the Geosciences department at the University of Arizona researching megaspore assemblages to understand the Paleozoic paleoenvironmental conditions of the Paraná and Maranhão Basins. Beyond her academic accomplishments, Nicéa was active in the local Brazilian/American community in Tucson, and was known for volunteer work and her colorful vests. Her volunteerism, passion for research, and experiences are recognized at GeoDaze through the Best Graduate Talk award.
