This year, to spice things up, we are using Gather town — a location-based video-conferencing tool. With your avatar, you’ll be able to navigate through a virtual conference hall, interact with presenters and other attendees, view presentations, and attend live events.

Oral presentations

Walk through rows of TV monitors, with each one corresponding to a presenter’s pre-recorded talk. To watch a talk recording, walk over to the carpet area of the presenter. When prompted, press ‘x’, and you’ll be able to watch the talk recording!

Posters presentations

Walk through rows of poster boards, with each board corresponding to a presenter’s poster. To view a poster, walk over to the shaded area in front of the poster board. You will see a preview of the poster, and press ‘x’ to see a full-screen version! For poster boards that have a TV monitor next to it, walk up to the monitor to watch a recording of the presenter talking through their poster.

Live events

The keynote address, AWG-hosted breakfast discussion, Q&A sessions, awards ceremony, and happy hour will all be live. Follow the arrows to enter the room corresponding to a live session, and when prompted, press ‘x’ to join the zoom meeting!
